In the early 1960's interracial relationships were still quite rare in many parts of America, and even technically illegal in some states. The Durhams were accecpting of Barack Sr., but his family didnt want him marrying a white american woman.So they divorced when Barack Obama was two years old and his father went to harvard.They only met once until Barack Obama was ten years old then they wrote to each other. His father did return to kenya and died in a car accident.
His mother remarried and then he moved to Indonesia, but when he was ten he returned to Hawaii and lived with his maturnal grandparents. He was called Barry by his friends and family and he went to a prestigious private academy in honolulu. Obama graduated punahou and went to Occidental College and then he transfered to Clumbia University. He then visited his relatives in Kenya for the first time, after that he went to apply at and was accepted to the Harvard law School.He was the first African American to that post, which virtually assured him of any career path he chose.

Thus becoming the yougest of the U.S. Senate when he was sworn into office in January 2005. A few years later, Obama decided to run for a seat in the US. Senate. Some of Obama's supporters thought he was aiming too high, but this time he beat out six others challeges.
obama and his wife have two young daughters, Malia and Sasha. Obama decided to stay in Chicago with his children instead of moving to Washington. His wife also kept her job as a hospital executive. he new when he was little he would be in a carrer in the speaking arts. that is the information on Barack Obama.
