blog assignment#19/Tony Curtis& John Wayne

Here is some information on some old movie stars.

First is Tony Curtis. He was born on June 3,1925. He was an American film actor whose career spanned six decades, but had his greatest popularity during the 1950s and early 1960s. He acted in over 100 films in roles covering a wide range of genres, from light comedy to serious drama. In his later years, Curtis made numerous television appearances.

He won his first serious recongnition as a skilled dramatic actor in Sweet Smell of Successs. Curtis's uncredited screen debut came in Criss-Cross.Later, as "Tony Curtis", he cemented his reputation with breakthrough performaces such as in the role of the scheming press. Agent Sidney Falco in Sweet Smell of success with burt Lancaster and an Oscar-nominated performance as a bigoted escaped convict chained to Sidney Poitier in The Defiant Ones. Now here is some in formation on John Wayne.

He was born may 26,1906. He was arguably the most popular and certainly the most busiest movie leading man in Hollywood History. John Wayne entered the film business while working as a laborer on the Fox lot during summer vacations from U.S.C. Which he attended on  a football scholarship.


He met and was befriended by John Ford.Wayne was cast as small roles for fords lat 20s films, occasionally under the name Duke morrison. It was Ford who recommended wayne to director Raoul Walsh for the male lead in 1930 epic western The Big Trail. Although it was a failure it showed wayne's potential. During the next nine years he busied himself in a multitued of b westerns. here is a picture of him.
