#35/My Weekend"

I had a awesome weekend. First I bought a headphone and microphone set for my xbox. Then I bought a videogame called CRACKDOWN 2. I already had crackdown and my friend said that the second one was awesome so I bought it. Then I went home and turned on my xbox.

Then I got on xbox live and talked to my friend Justin. I told him that I just got a headset and that I was going to try it out. At first I was having trouble with it. I read the instructions and did what it said to do. I couldn't figure it out.

Then I unpluged it from my controler. I asked Justin through my Kinect how to make it work. He said did you take it off mute. That's when I realized that I forgot to take it off mute. I felt silly because I was having so much trouble with it just because it was on mute.

Then we played Call of duty: MODERN WARFARE 2 with our friend Ethanater 1002. Sunday I had to watch my little cousin Jordan. My mom took us to Sams and then Walmart. Then at 4 o clock Jordan went home. Then I went over to my friend Arthur's house and, we played Call of duty: MODERN WARFARE 2 against each other. My xbox live gamertag is monkeytyler13

Now here is what I hope to accomplish this year.

1. Get awesome grades
2. Get awesome rewards for those grades
3. Save up $100
4. become stronger
5.become a lot smarter
6. Earn respect
7. prove that I am mature to my older cousins
8. Turn music volume up on the radio
9. become taller
10. Feel good at the end of the school year

blog assignment #34

1.Coldest Star Discovered. Dubbed CFBDSIR 1458 10b, the star is what is called a brown dwarf. Theae oddball obejects are called failed stars, because they have starlike heat and chemical properties but don't have enough mass for the crush of gravity to ignite nuclear fusion at their cores. With surface temperatures hovering around 206 degrees F (97 degrees C), the newfound star is the coldest brown dwarf seen to date. (Related: "Dimmest Stars in Universe Spotted?").

2.Biggest. Rabbit. Ever? . The easter bunny came early this year for a few scientists working on the Spanish island of Minorca. The team has just announced the discovery of Earth's biggest known rabbit species, an oddly unbunny-like giant dubbed Nuralagus rex "the Minorcan king of the hares."
The 26-pound (12-kilogram) prehistoric species was about six times bigger than the common European rabbit, found on most continents, according to an analysis of several bones. Study leader Josep Quintana is no stranger to giant Minorcan rabbit fossils, though it took a while before he knew exactly how big a find he'd uncovered.

3. Inside Japan’s Hot Zone. Their faces obscured by breathing masks, workers pore over data in the control room for the now-ruined Unit 1 and Unit 2 reactors at Japan's Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant on Wednesday. Although some power has been restored to the facility, the workers known as the Fukushima 50 face a difficult job getting pumps and circuits to operate the crucial systems that provide cooling for the reactors and the spent fuel stored on site.

blog assignment#35/Foreign News

Here are some foreign news aricles

1.Anger in Syria over crackdown. Middle East. Around 20,000 syrians chanting freedom slogans marched on Thursday at the funerals of nine protesters who were killed by security gaurds. The nine were among at least  25 people shot dead by security forces on Wednesday. A witness told Al Jazeera that more than 100 people were shot.

2.Libya Live Blog - March 24. Detained government soldiers and suspected mercenaries are kept in a former military prison near Benghazi, now taken over by rebels. Some of the men admit to serving with Gaddafi's forces, but say they had no other choice, but to fire at rebels and civilians during battles for cities in the east of the country. One of the men said that anyone objected they would be killed or burned alive.

3. French jet 'shoots down Libyan plane' . A French fighter jet has reportedly attacked and destroyed a Libyan plane identified as a trainer aircraft near Misurata, a US official has said.
The AP news agency cited an official as saying the Libyan plane may have been landing when it was attacked by a French Rafael fighter jet enforcing the UN-backed no-fly zone over Libya on Thursday. The incident, which if confirmed would be the first of its kind since the no-fly zone was set up, is still under investigation, the source added.

1.Olympiakos wins 38th league title . Olympiakos clinched its 38th Greek league championship on Sunday by thrashing Aek 6-0 after scoring three goals in each half in front of a delirious home crowd of 33,000.
Rafik Djebbour, who joined Olympiakos from Aek in January after falling out with coach Manolo Jimenez, scored twice with Olof Mellberg, David Fuster, Kevin Mirallas and Iosif Holebas adding a goal apiece in Olympiakos' biggest victory of the season.

2. Secrets & Lies.
A Greek proverb informs us that “Devil has many legs”. So does the truth. As for the accusers of the international campaign against Gaddafi, they are of many stripes.
Yet, despite belonging to totally different corners of the political and ideological spectrum, they do have something in common: the belief that the West acts as a criminal for sending in airplanes against the mercenaries employed by the Libyan regime.

3. Rainfall 'has gone mad'. The absence of water resource management practices and excessive consumption are, according to experts, the main problems in Greece, as the world prepares to celebrate Water Day.
More than 2.8 billion people worldwide face daily problems of quality water availability, while climate change has caused a variety of repercussions on the planet's water reserves. March 28 has been designated by the United Nations as the World Day for Water, and despite the policies applied for conservation and qualitative upgrading of water resources, the outlook remains gloomy.

1.
Landsvirkjun and the European Investment Bank sign a new loan agreement

Read more: http://www.icenews.is/#ixzz1HXC31Dit.
Landsvirkjun, one of Europe’s leading renewable energy companies, signed a new loan agreement amounting to EUR 70 million (11.3 billion ISK) with the European Investment Bank (EIB) yesterday (March 23rd 2011). The loan is an important milestone in the overall funding of the Budarhals Hydro Electric Project in Iceland.
The loan has a Maturity Date in 2031 and a favourable margin over Euribor. Included in the loan agreement is a provision requiring a minimum credit rating for the Republic of Iceland.

2. Icelandic parliament passes constitutional change bill.
A parliamentary resolution on the forming of a constitutional council has passed Iceland’s Althingi parliament. The council will be held instead of a constitutional parliament, because the public election result was voided by the Supreme Court.
The resolution was passed with 31 votes for, 21 against and seven no-votes, Visir.is reports.
Instead of the 25-member constitutional parliament the public voted on last year, parliament will now appoint the same 25 people who were elected on to a constitutional council. The election was voided on technical grounds and there was no suggestion that the 25 people elected did not represent the will of the people.

3.
Former Icelandic PM’s emails to be handed over to prosecutor.
A request for the electronic communications of former Icelandic Prime Minister Geir H. Haarde has been upheld in the case against him for negligence before and during the banking crash.
The Landsdomur High Court, which has been specially assembled to try the former PM, granted the prosecutor’s wish to see Haarde’s work emails and hopes to receive thousands of pages which Haarde sent and received while in office, in the coming days. It is thought formal charges will be lodged with the High Court before Easter.

2. Radiation warning for Tokyo water . Tokyo water 'unfit for babies' due to high radiation. Well what's going on  is that when Tokyo was hit by that earthquakw it hit the nuclear power plant and some of the radiation got in the water. So now the babies can't drink out of the tab. Also they have been told to eat certain vegetables for worries about contamination. Aparently children under the age of 1 can't drink from it, but officials say that they would have to drink a lot of it to become ill and there is no immediate health risk.

3.Deadly bombing targets Jerusalem . Deadly bombing targets Jerusalem bus stop. One person died after a bombing at a bus stop in Jerusalem, but more than 20 people are injured. This was in central Jerusalem. The bomb had been left by the side of the rode.

3.

U.S. Ready to Hand Off Libya, But to Whom?. The United States could hand over its leading role in the Libya airstrikes to NATO as early as this weekend, a U.S. official told ABC News, but there is uncertainty over whether NATO will accept that role.
The administration is focused on "an orderly transfer to NATO over the weekend," but there is still concern that the United States will have to carry much of the burden even after -- and if -- NATO takes over, the official said.

blog assignment#31/feature choice

Here is information on Japan.
Now a week after a devastating earthquake and tsunami struck Japan, new information is slowly surfacing about the equine population in the areas heavily damaged by the natural disasters.Currently, we still have intermittent earthquakes elsewhere in northeastern Japan, and above all, what is happening now. In Fukushima nuclear power plants is still unclear--so indeed, everyone in our horse industry is still tensed up," said Fumiaki Mizobe, DVM, of the Japan Racing Association.
Mizobe explained that although no horses or farms on the island of Hokkaido suffered major damage from the earthquake or tsunami, some horses have been moved further inland to assure their safety. Additionally, he added, none of the training farms in Miyagi, Fukushima, and Iwate regions reported injuries to their horses; however, some suffered structural damage to their facilities.

"On account of the radiation leak caused by the explosions at Fukushima nuclear power plant. Some of the training farms decided to move their horses to other areas (for safety reasons)," Mizobe noted. He added that several riding clubs in the Fukushima prefecture evacuated their horses from the area to comply with Japanese government evacuation instructions. In connection with the radiation leaks at the Fukushima nuclear plant. He also noted that most of the training and breeding farms have enough stockpiled feed for their horses at present.
However, news from the Miyagi prefecture--one of the worse-hit regions--is not as positive. Mizobi explained that three riding clubs in the region were "submerged in the tsunami."

"Thirty-three riding horses belonging to these riding clubs were rescued," he noted. "But four horses were reported dead, and at least 18 horses were reported missing." 'We are very relieved that there have been no reports of any injuries to our employees,' said Ken Joyce, Amkor's president and chief executive officer. 'We express our sympathies to the victims of the earthquake and tsunami, as well as to our Japanese colleagues and the nation as a whole.' The Kitakami facility is currently closed due to power supply interruptions and plans are underway to restore production capabilities at the site when power, gas and water supplies, and transportation systems are stabilized. The Kitakami facility is Amkor's smallest operation in both units and revenue, generating approximately $10 million to $11 million of monthly sales prior to the earthquake.

The Kitakami facility only provides services to a few Japan-based customers. We are working closely with these customers to assess and support their requirements in light of the earthquake's impact on their operations.Japan is a major supplier of semiconductors, silicon wafers, specialty chemicals, substrates, equipment and other supplies to the electronics industry, and the industry is currently evaluating the potential effect of the earthquake on the overall supply chain for electronics. Since the earthquake, we have been in close communication with our customers, suppliers and OEMs to analyze the situation and evaluate alternative sources of supply where appropriate. Like many companies in the semiconductor industry supply chain, we operate with multiple suppliers from different geographic regions. This diversification is intended to help mitigate any potential disruptions from events such as these. However, it is too early to comment on the broader impact the earthquake may have on the electronics industry and our business and operations.
About Amkor Amkor is a leading provider of semiconductor assembly and test services to semiconductor companies and electronics OEMs. More information on Amkor is available from the company's SEC filings and on Amkor's website: www.amkor.com.
The Japanese "shindo" scale for measuring earthquakes is more commonly used in Japan than the Richter scale to describe earthquakes. Shindo refers to the intensity of an earthquake at a given location, i.e. what people actually feel at a given location, while the Richter scale measures the magnitude of an earthquake, i.e. the energy an earthquake releases at the epicenter. The shindo scale ranges from shindo one, a slight earthquake felt only by people who are not moving, to shindo seven, a severe earthquake. Shindo two to four are still minor earthquakes that do not cause damage, while objects start to fall at shindo five, and heavier damage occurs at shindo six and seven.Every household should keep a survival kit with a flashlight, a radio, a first aid kit and enough food and water to last for a few days.

Avoid placing heavy objects in places where they could easily fall during an earthquake and cause injury or block exits. Have a fire extinguisher. Familiarize yourself with the designated evacuation area in your neighborhood.
Falling objects, toppling furniture and panic present the greatest dangers during an earthquake. Try to protect yourself under a table or doorway. Do not run outside, and try to remain as calm as possible. If you are in the streets, try to find protection from glass and other objects that may fall from surrounding buildings. After a strong earthquake, turn off ovens, stoves and the main gas valve.

blog assignment # 29/Facebook

Here is some information on Facebook. Facebook is a social network service and site. It was launched in February 2004, it is privately owned by Facebook Inc. As of January 2011 Facebook has more than 600 million active users. Users can have a personal profile and add other users as friends. You can exchange messages, including automatic notifications when you update your profile. Additionally, users may join common interest groups.

Organized by workplace, school, or college, or other characteristics. The name of the service stems from the colloquial name for the book given to the students at the start of the academic year. By the university administrations in the USA to help student get to know each other better. Facebook allows anyone who declares themselves to be 13 years old to become a registered user of the website. Facebook was founded by Mark Zuckerberg  with his college roomates and fellow computer science students. Their names were Eduardo Saverin, Dustin Moskovitz, and Chris Hughes. The website's membership was initially limited by the founders to Harvard students.

However it was expanded to other colleges in the Boston area. The Ivy league and Stanford university became part of it. It gradually added support for students at various other universities before opening to high school students. Then it finally came down to anyone 13 or over. In January 2009 compete.com ranked facebook as the most used social network service by monthly active users. Entertainment Weekly put it on its best-of-the-decade best of list. Quantcast estimates Facebook has 135.1 million monthly unique U.S. visitors in October 2010.

According to Social Media Today, in April 2010 an estimated 41.6% of the U.S, had a Facebook account. Mark Zuckerberg  wrote Facesmash the predeccesor to Facebook on October 28,2003. According to Harvard Crimson, it was compared to hot or not. To accomplish this, Zuckerberg hacked into the protected areas of Harvards computer network. Harvard at that time did not have a student  facebook. Facesmash attracted 450 visitors. Now let me tell you something else about facebook.

It also has some bad things about it. I mean so far I've only told you good things. Now let me tell you some bad things. First, when you accept someone's friend request you can see the picture they posted. Some people might post inapropiate pictures on facebook. Another is when you you put something on facebook it never goes away so be careful. Lastly do not tell anyone know any personal things about you, and if anyone ask immedately block them for your own safety.
