Here is some information on Facebook. Facebook is a social network service and site. It was launched in February 2004, it is privately owned by Facebook Inc. As of January 2011 Facebook has more than 600 million active users. Users can have a personal profile and add other users as friends. You can exchange messages, including automatic notifications when you update your profile. Additionally, users may join common interest groups.
Organized by workplace, school, or college, or other characteristics. The name of the service stems from the colloquial name for the book given to the students at the start of the academic year. By the university administrations in the USA to help student get to know each other better. Facebook allows anyone who declares themselves to be 13 years old to become a registered user of the website. Facebook was founded by Mark Zuckerberg with his college roomates and fellow computer science students. Their names were Eduardo Saverin, Dustin Moskovitz, and Chris Hughes. The website's membership was initially limited by the founders to Harvard students.
However it was expanded to other colleges in the Boston area. The Ivy league and Stanford university became part of it. It gradually added support for students at various other universities before opening to high school students. Then it finally came down to anyone 13 or over. In January 2009 compete.com ranked facebook as the most used social network service by monthly active users. Entertainment Weekly put it on its best-of-the-decade best of list. Quantcast estimates Facebook has 135.1 million monthly unique U.S. visitors in October 2010.
According to Social Media Today, in April 2010 an estimated 41.6% of the U.S, had a Facebook account. Mark Zuckerberg wrote Facesmash the predeccesor to Facebook on October 28,2003. According to Harvard Crimson, it was compared to hot or not. To accomplish this, Zuckerberg hacked into the protected areas of Harvards computer network. Harvard at that time did not have a student facebook. Facesmash attracted 450 visitors. Now let me tell you something else about facebook.
It also has some bad things about it. I mean so far I've only told you good things. Now let me tell you some bad things. First, when you accept someone's friend request you can see the picture they posted. Some people might post inapropiate pictures on facebook. Another is when you you put something on facebook it never goes away so be careful. Lastly do not tell anyone know any personal things about you, and if anyone ask immedately block them for your own safety.
